How many people have AIDS/HIV in the World

Just 10 years ago it was unknown how many people exactly have AIDS. It was also unknown how many people are infected with HIV. Today, however, much more is known about this dangerous disease. 2001 was the year when detailed analyses were made on global level and all countries were involved in this action in order to find out as much as possible about how many people have HIV and AIDS in the world.


AIDS and HIV in the World


In year 2001 it was reported that there were 35,890,000 people who had HIV or AIDS. Out of the total number, it was confirmed that approximately 18 million women have signs of HIV infection and a bit more than 17 million men have symptoms of HIV . There are 35,890,000 people who have HIV or AIDS of which 1,270,000 of them are children who are under 12 years or younger.
